Abdul’s Family Testimony

Before Becoming Christian

My name is Abdul. I am from Afghanistan. My wife's name is Ezma, we are both 28 years old, and we have two little sons named Ada and Ara. Ara was born this past April. We used to be Muslims, and we were born into a Muslim family. My parents showed me how to pray, read the Quran, and fast in the Muslim way. However, they did not give any reason for doing these things.

I prayed daily, read the Quran, and went to the mosque. I used to do the same thing every day, like a habit, without any feeling of peace for myself. I continued this way until I entered University in 2016. In my first year at university, I got to know a friend who told me he was a Christian. He told me his story and invited me to become a Christian.

Because I was a strict Muslim, I would fight him, mock him, and call him an infidel. In my fourth year at University, a problem occurred in our family when my sister got cancer. We took my sister to the big hospitals.

The doctors had no solution for her and told us to take her to the hospitals in India or Pakistan. We took my sister to India, and still the doctors had no answer and told us she would die from cancer. Our family was very upset, everyone was crying, we prayed every day, we fed poor people, we fasted, we read the Quran for our sister, but none of this helped and my sister did not get better. Then, one day, I remembered my Christian friend from University. I called that friend and he took me to an underground Church. The church prayed and prayed for my sister until a miracle happened to my sister. Jesus Christ the Lord touched my sick sister and He healed my sister. We took her to the hospitals and the doctors were shocked that my sister did not have anymore cancer. It was there that I believed that Jesus Christ the Lord is alive. That Jesus is with us. That he helps us in our despair, and heals our sickness. From this miracle of Jesus Christ I accepted Jesus Christ with the deepest sincerity of my heart.

After Following Christ

After becoming a Christian, I was very excited to share the good news. I preached the good news with my uncle's son. Unfortunately, my uncle's son told his father's friend, and his father handed me over to the police, and I was thrown in prison for three days. The police tortured me every day. They also did not give me food or water. After three days, I became weak in prison, and my cousin came to take me out. At this time, I had a fiancé who was also a Christian. We wanted to get married. On the day of our wedding, the police came and wanted to arrest us for our Christian beliefs, which made both of our families aware of our Christianity. After our families knew about our Christian faith, they decided to kill us. Through the help of Jesus Christ, we found out about their plan, and at night, we escaped and fled to a nearby country. We did not know the new language, we did not have money, and we didn't have enough money. It has been very difficult and tough for us. God connected us to Christians in the new country as we waited for the opportunity to rebuild our lives one day, not as a refugee. We have seen many difficult days in our waiting, but we were never disappointed because Jesus Christ showed us that he is the living God. He is our provider and gives us our daily food. When the Taliban took over Afghanistan, our dream of God changing our family's hearts and being able to return to Afghanistan were destroyed. At the moment, we are living here with no destiny, but we will never lose hope because Jesus Christ has a plan for us and we trust in his plan. Amen!
